Deer Antler Awl

Folk art leather awl crafted by Claude "Red" Hutchings, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Red was a cowboy, miner, logger, and could run a 32-up team. He was recognized by the Idaho Commission on the Arts as a folk artist of Idaho, and died in 1977. This was his personal tool, presumably used in crafting his rawhide pieces and other items.  Circa: 1950. Measures 5 3/4" x .5".
