Cheyenne Bird Moccasins
Cheyenne or Arapaho moccasins circa 1890. Lovely early bead colors and bold design, with a Thunderbird beaded on the vamps. Hard soles, with the name Dan Welch on the bottom in dark ink. 10.5" long, and 3.5" wide. 4" high. The Thunderbird in Cheyenne and Arapaho society sometimes signified that the wearer had dreamed of the Thunderbird; such dreamers usually became Contraries.
