Buffalo Inkwell
This is an impressive Victorian-era bronze buffalo inkwell and pen tray. The sculpted bison has ivory horns; the movement and conformation was really captured well from his raised tail to his turned head. Small containers with hinged bronze lids hold ceramic inkwells, on either side of the buffalo. No maker, but "Austria" is molded into the casting underneath. Karl Kauba and other Austrians were exporting many pieces with an American West theme - this could be one in a similar vein.
