Hans Kleiber – Wind River
Beautiful landscape oil painting by Hans Kleiber, Wyoming (1887-1967). Entitled "Wind River Upper", and showing an impressionist view of the river, red bluffs, and a sunset glow. Kleiber was of German origin, but emigrated in 1906. He became a U.S. Forest Ranger with duties throughout the Northwestern United States. He gave up the job to devote all of his time to art. He was untrained, but had natural talent and won awards along the way, and is now considered an important listed Wyoming artist. He died in Sheridan, Wyoming. Works are held by many institutions.
