J.E. Stimson – Grand Tetons From Bar BC Ranch
A wonderful hand-painted photograph of the famous Bar BC ranch, owned by Struthers Burt, with the Grand Teton looming in the background. The Bar BC, despite its remote location in the beginning of the 20th century, was found by royalty and horsethieves alike to be a perfect place to rejuvenate (hide?). Heiress Cissy Patterson, aka "the Duchess of Flat Creek" met Cal Carrington there - while Cal was laying low from a prior horse stealing episode. Stimson was a Cheyenne, Wyoming photographer who happened to be in business during the Johnson County War. Many famous photographs of the participants on both sides were taken by Stimson, and much of his body of work is in the Wyoming State Archives. It's no wonder that the Bar BC was a compelling subject for him. This is one of the most desirable photos of the famous old place. In the original frame, and titled on the mat; signed in the photograph.
