S.N. Leek – The Fighting Elk
Perhaps one of Leek's most famous images, this is "The Fighting Elk", a hand colored lithograph circa 1910. Image size is 20" x 15". The piece is archivally framed in a 33" x 28" frame. The image was taken on Stephen Leek's ranch in Jackson Hole South Park area. Leek was given a camera by George Eastman of Kodak, and began photographing the wintering elk as they went through several years of starvation. He is credited with stimulating the movement to establish the National Park Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This particular piece is in excellent condition with no staining, fading, or creasing, so it would be a solid addition to a collection or art display.
