Till Goodan – Midnight
Original mixed media piece by Tillman Parker Goodan (1896 - 1958) which was part of a folio entitled "Famous Bucking Horses", an ode to some of the most legendary roughstock of Goodan's period. The piece is circa 1940, with the printed folio coming out circa 1950. Midnight was one of the greatest bucking horses ever, and is buried with Steamboat at the Cowboy Hall of Fame. The painting captures him in classic style. Both horses were from Wyoming and appeared at Cheyenne Frontier Days in the twenties and thirties. Goodan illustrated the Gene Autry books and comics, and is most well known for designing the famous Rodeo china pattern with Wallace China. He died in the saddle at a rodeo parade - truly a cowboy's cowboy. Image is 20 x 26; framed size is 30 x 36.
