Molesworth Fireplace Screen
Fabulous large fireplace screen attributed to Thomas Molesworth, featuring a Plains Indian on horseback, chasing a buffalo. Pine trees and a tipi are at either end of the scene. The figures are wrought iron, hand cut, and applied to the heavy mesh screen with very small wire fasteners. The screen is sandwiched between a wrought frame, and riveted. The handles at top, and the feet at bottom, are twisted or scrolled, and hammered. They, too are riveted onto the screen. 50" wide, 45" high, and approx. 8" deep at the feet.
